MEET THE ACTS ATTENDING AMERICANA FEST 2014

The official artists chosen this year highlights the diversity of song writing talent and the engaging and dynamic live shows coming out of Australia.

The Audreys are made up of song writing duo, Taasha Coates and Tristan Goodall. Formed in Adelaide in 2004, they are now one of Australia’s highest profile roots bands. They have released three records, one in 2006 called “Between Last Night and Us”, another in 2008 called “When the Flood Comes” and “Sometimes the Stars” in late 2010. All three records have won its year’s ARIA Award for Best Blues and Roots Album, so they can’t be half bad. They like vintage clothes, anything on vinyl, drinking, touring and each other.

With songs about boozy nights, bad decisions, broken hearts and the best intentions, Brooke Russell and The Mean Reds blend country, blues, folk and swing to appease their love of all things vintage. Drawing influence from swing, alt country and trad jazz, the band are also inspired by the songs of Ryan Adams, Joe Henry, Gillian Welch, Tom Waits and Neko Case.

Having toured with The Lumineers, Of Monsters And Men and Passenger,Falls are fast developing an impressive live resume that also includes performances at Sundance Film Festival, SXSW and CMJ. In August 2014 they will be heading into the studio to record their debut LP due for release in 2015.

Part psychedelic folk, part country rock, Immigrant Union have been building their name through stellar live performances at some of the country’s most iconic venues and boutique festivals like Boogie and The Hills Are Alive. Consecutive years of performing at the Tamworth Music Festival has earned the group a reputation as the peculiar but beloved alternative country “out of towners” at Australia’s best know country music event.

The Mae Trio is a multi-award winning band, made up of three of the Australian folk scene’s most talented young songwriters, singers and performers. Sisters Maggie and Elsie Rigby (The Rainmakers) have teamed up with cellist Anita Hillman (Evelyn’s Secret). They perform an insightful collection of original songs arranged for ukulele, banjo, guitar, fiddle, cello, bass and superb three part vocal harmony. The trio are winners of the Folk Alliance Australia Youth Award 2013 and the Lis Johnston Award for Vocal Excellence 2011.

Based in Gatlinburg, Tenn., the distillery chose to partner with her as she continues her travels across the country visiting radio in support of her single.

“I’m so thrilled to be entering into this partnership with Davy Crockett’s distillery,” said Ballestrini.  “I not only have a single that I’m proud to be delivering to my friends at radio, but I also have some great whiskey that I’m packin’. My friends at radio better watch out – they haven’t tasted any whiskey like this!”

Chuck Edwards of Davy Crockett’s Whiskey added, “Davy Crockett’s Cookies and Cream Whiskey is proud to be partnering with Veronica. Former Member of The Harters, J. Michael Harter, Launches Career As Solo Artist

Releases New Single “Holy Cowgirl” To Country Radio and Dance Clubs

(Nashville, Tenn. – Aug. 6, 2014)J. Michael Harter, former member of the brother-sister trio, The Harters, is in the midst of launching his career as a solo artist with debut single, “Holy Cowgirl.”  The single is Harter’s first release from his forthcoming EP, Ride On, which will be released on GMV Nashville/Anozira Records Sept 30, 2014. The single has been released to radio and is now available for sale on iTunes and other major digital retailers.

A dance remix for “Holy Cowgirl” has also been created and is being distributed by Nashville-based venue marketing company Marco Club Connection to Country nightclubs across the country. The song is already receiving positive feedback and airplay in venues across the United States.

J. Michael Harter, Scott Harter, Earl Bud Lee, Scott Laurent, and Bruce Wallace co-wrote the up-tempo party song during a songwriting retreat in Alaska.

J. Michael commented about the day the song came to life, “I had the title in my phone for years and often brought the idea up when I’d do co-writes, but I had a hard time getting people to understand where I was going with it. While brainstorming for ideas with my co-writers at our retreat in Alaska, I thought, what the heck maybe they would get it. At first when I said the title, they were all silent, pondering what I’d just said. Scott Laurent laughed and said, ‘You mean like a really religious Cowgirl?’ I said no man, but that’s funny! I mean like you see a woman all dolled up in tight jeans and boots and you think, Holy Cow Girl!!! At that moment, Bruce Wallace started playing that very infectious guitar hook and the song came to life.”

A Tempe, Ariz. native, Harter’s music blends up-beat Country melodies with profound lyrics and a unique Western flair.

Harter most recently recorded with The Harters, which was made up of himself, his brother, Scott, and sister, Leslie. J. Michael’s forthcoming EP, co-written and produced by his brother Scott, contains some of the most special and refreshing music he’s ever written.

Of the new music, Harter says, “I am striving to be part of the pendulum swinging the other way to lyrically driven songs that would make you cry, laugh, or make you remember something that touches your heart.”

For more information about J. Michael Harter, view his website at www.JMichaelHarter.com and follow him on Facebook and Twitter.

About J. Michael Harter: Tempe, Ariz. native J. Michael Harter is no stranger to the music business. After a run in the sibling trio The Harters, J. Michael Harter is now releasing music as a solo artist. Citing influences such as Garth Brooks, George Strait, Clint Black and Alan Jackson, Harter’s music contains lyrics about real life relationships, experiences and struggles. Harter, a blue-collar, hard working “man’s man” credits much of his songwriting to the close relationship he has with his brother, Scott. Their strong relationship has produced some of the best music J. Michael believes he’s ever recorded. In addition to having co-writes with his brother featured on the project, Scott Harter is also credited for producing the EP.  The music will soon be heard and available on Harter’s new EP titled, Ride On, which will be released later this year on iTunes and other major digital retailers. Harter just released his new single, titled “Holy Cowgirl” to Country radio and dance clubs across the country.  For more information about J.
