Singer-Songwriter Jordyn Mallory’s Debut EP Now Available on iTunes

“Boat Friend” Video Playing on CMT Music and CMT.com

Rising singer-songwriter Jordyn Mallory’s debut EP featuring the CMT spotlighted “Boat Friend” is now available on iTunes.

The self-titled EP, originally released via Spotify this May, consists of four tracks compiling Mallory’s “southern pop” style with her witty and flirty lyricism. The EP transitions through multiple levels of emotion from the ultimate summer anthem “Boat Friend,” to the storytelling ballad “Southern Belle.”

“Boat Friend,” written by Mallory with Greg Becker and Mike Shimshack, is the single release from the EP. The music video premiered on CMT’s Artist Discovery campaign and is available for viewing here.

“Two summers ago, I was in a Jeep with my girlfriends when one of the girls said ‘I really wanna be single this summer but we need to find some guys with a boat,’ and I said ‘You don’t want a boyfriend, you need a boat friend.’ Everyone laughed and I immediately knew I was going to write that song,” said Mallory.

At 24, the Okolona, Miss native is already making her mark within the music industry. In 2010, Mallory won a position on Simon Fuller’s If I Can Dream series on Hulu.com and later became a contestant on the eleventh season of American Idol. Mallory has since been the opening act for Loretta Lynn, Jake Owen, and more.  Additionally, she is already earning herself a name within the songwriting community and has co-written cuts with Kip Moore and Dan Couch.

SONGWRITERS CONVERGE IN NASHVILLE FOR APRA AMCOS’ SONGHUBS

Aussie and American Songwriters Partnered For Weeklong Retreat

Talented songwriters hailing from Australia were recently partnered with some of Nashville’s music elite as part of the APRA AMCOS program, SongHubs.

SongHubs is an intensive, commercially-focused songwriting residency that provides unique collaborative opportunities for both published and unpublished songwriters.  Australian writers, producers, and artists were paired with Nashville songwriters for creative partnership and heightening their craft. Phil Barton, a native Aussie who came to Nashville eight years ago and has written hits for country superstars like Lee Brice, Sara Evans, Dustin Lynch, and more, served as curator for the retreat.

A limited number of artists were hand selected to participate in the event, co-presented by Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), which took place at NSAI HQ from Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 17. This year’s fully funded APRA AMCOS members were No.1 Billboard songwriter, producer and The Potbelleez band member, Ilan Kidron, and award-winning songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and engineer Pip Norman. Joining them were Nashville resident APRA AMCOS members Alex Lloyd, Caitlyn Shadbolt, Danielle Blakey, Joel Chapman, Lindsey Jackson, Missy Lancaster, Morgan Evans, Nat Dunn, O’Shea, Nikita King and Kaylee Bell.

Other artists representing Australia included APRA AMCOS Breakthrough Songwriter of the Year (2014) Kylie Sackley, known for co-writing the LeAnn Rimes smash, “Nothin’ ‘bout Love Makes Sense” along with songs for Thompson Square, John Rich, and Jo Dee Messina; producer and musician Lindsay Rimes, who recently produced the No. 2 Billboard hit “I Love This Life” by LOCASH; and Christian musician Mia Fieldes, who is responsible for hit collaborations with Michael W. Smith, King & Country and more.

Paired with the Australian acts were UK-based songwriter and producer Adam Argyle; Jim Beavers (songwriting credits include Luke Bryan’s “Drink A Beer,” Dierks Bentley’s “5-1-5-0” and “Am I the Only One,” as well as Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup” and countless others); multi-instrumentalist Seth Ennis; singer, songwriter and artist, Ashley Gearing; Better Than Ezra front man Kevin Griffin (songwriting credits include No.1 hits like Howie Day’s “Collide”, Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” and Missy Higgins’ “Scar”); Lee Groves (known for his work with Mark “Spike” Stent for Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Goldfrapp and Elbow); Jason Matthews (songwriting credits include Billy Currington’s “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right”, Luke Bryan’s “Country Man” and “Muckalee Creek Water”, and Chris Young’s “Lonely Eyes”); American Music Award recipient, two-time BMI Pop songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and artist from the band Hot Chelle Rae, Nash Overstreet; Liz Rose (known for her work with Taylor Swift including “You Belong with Me,” which won a Grammy Award in 2010); and Emily Shackelton (maintains songwriting credits for Reba McEntire, Sara Evans, Jana Kramer, Mickey Guyton, David Cook, and more).

Supported by the Australian Government, the purpose behind SongHubs is to spread creative energy amongst talent while establishing partnerships with the emerging international market. To be an eligible participant  the mixer, songwriters and composers should have demonstrated commercial success within the past two years, practice a keenness to collaborate, have material scheduled to release within twelve months of attending SongHubs as/with a performing artist.

Billy Ray Cyrus Reinvents and Proves He’s “Still The King”

Spotlighted in New York Times Feature Article

International singer-songwriter and “Still The King” star, Billy Ray Cyrus, is the topic of a recent New York Times article, which shares an intimate perspective of Cyrus’ craft, family, and passion for equal rights that fuel his ever-evolving career.

New York Times journalist, Joe Coscarelli, takes readers through the Lower East Side of NYC with Cyrus, as he highlights accomplishments such as the premiere of CMT’s new scripted comedy, “Still The King” in which he describes the series’ plot as, “a gritty Southern feel that finds Mr. Cyrus (a co-creator of the show) playing an exaggerated take on the worst version of himself: “Burnin’ Vernon,” a louche one-hit wonder scamming his way into a job as a preacher and into the life of the teenage daughter he didn’t know he had.”

“Still The King” is a project Cyrus has been pursuing for over three years now and his dedication to the series’ fruition has Jayson Dinsmore, the executive vice president of development for CMT, filled with praise.

“Sometimes we forget how successful Billy Ray has been,” Dinsmore said. “He’s one of those people who has multigenerational fans.”

Throughout the course of nearly three decades, Billy Ray Cyrus has achieved international success as a singer, songwriter, entertainer, and philanthropist.  He has sold millions of albums, charted 35 singles, 16 of which are Top 40 hits and continues to receive critical acclaim as an actor, writer, and executive producer in film and television.  His expansive career highlights his talent to the utmost.

The article captures insight on Cyrus’ musical journey from his 90s hits and the anticipated 14th studio album from Blue Cadillac MusicThin Line, to be released September 9.

“The album is how I live my life; it’s a balance between art and reality,” said Cyrus. Which serves as the theme of the album and quite accurately mirrors the inspiration behind “Still The King”.

Thin Line is now available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon.  Included on the album is “Hey Elvis,” a collaboration Cyrus re-invented with Bryan Adams and the legendary “Voice of Rock,” Glenn Hughes.

NEW COUNTRY TRIO POST MONROE ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF DEBUT EP: AVAILABLE NOW

PostMonroe_EP Cover

Sony ATV singer-songwriters Ashlee Hewitt and Shelby McLeod have joined forces with Given Entertainment’s Whitney Duncan to emerge as the latest country trio, Post Monroe with a self-titled debut EP to be released for digital here.

“We are so excited to get the first taste of our music out and available for everyone to hear,” said Duncan. “We have really been looking forward to this day for quite a while.”

Hewitt added, “We truly feel like the chemistry we have found together in the writing room and in the studio is something very special; we feel so blessed.”

The five-track EP produced by Chuck Ainlay and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum (with Aaron Chmielewski producing on “Lucky One”) was born out of the writing room and combines Post Monroe’s distinct harmonies and sweet mandolin melodies with southern attitude.

“I have had such an amazing time being on the production side of the music-making process with Post Monroe,” said Haywood. “I truly believe that these girls are the real deal – from the writing room to the studio – they have a unique perspective and fresh sound that I can’t wait for people to hear.”

The trio came to fruition as Hewitt and Duncan discovered McLeod’s voice after a co-writing session and decided she was the woman to complete the package. Individually, the ladies approach their craft from different perspectives that support the creative flare of their work.

“We are strong women and we’re vulnerable,” said McLeod. “There are many sides to every woman and we like writing songs that speak from all those sides.”

While drawing from unique backgrounds, Post Monroe blossomed from each member’s early passion for music. Hewitt, who came of age on a farm in Lancaster, Minn., has extensive experience in live performance playing 150 shows annually throughout her teenage years and was a former contestant on the sixth season of Nashville Star before relocating to Music City.

A native Tennessean, Duncan, has been amongst Nashville’s elite songwriters since the age of 15. She was recognized on the Warner Music Nashville roster in 2008 with the release of her album Right Road Now featuring the popular “When I Said I Would” and “Skinny Dippin”.

With a more traditional path, McLeod spent her childhood singing locally and participating in musical theater in her hometown of Madison, Ga.. She earned a degree in communications from the University of Georgia before acquiring a position in the music industry where she initially got to know her bandmates.

The first single from the project will be “Red Hot American Summer” and the video will soon follow the debut release. For more information, visit PostMonroe.com.
