KELLI HAYWOOD RETURNS TO STARSTRUCK MANAGEMENT GROUP

Longtime executive to serve as Manager, VP of Artist Development at top entertainment company

Starstruck Management Group proudly announces the return of longtime music industry executive Kelli Haywood in an exciting new role with the company, effective immediately.

Haywood will serve as Manager and Vice President of Artist Development at Starstruck, rejoining Narvel and Brandon Blackstock. She also will focus on signing and cultivating new talent at the esteemed music entertainment agency.

“Brandon and I have worked with Kelli for several years when she was in charge of marketing for Blake Shelton at Warner Bros. Records,” Narvel Blackstock said. “We have always been extremely impressed with Kelli’s intelligence and talent whether working with her at the label or later when she brought many corporate partners for Starstruck artists. She has shown a broad understanding of what it takes for an artist to achieve their dreams and we could not be more happy to have her joining us at Starstruck.”

Haywood, a former member of Billboard’s “30 Under 30” and Vice President at Warner Music Nashville, returns to Starstruck in a full-time role after founding her own artist management agency, KCH Entertainment, a year ago. She continued to serve as a consultant to the Blackstocks. Before that she served a two-year stint as Starstruck’s Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships.

In her exciting new role she’ll be helping Starstruck expand its operations with an artist development component that will allow her to identify, sign and cultivate new artists who have the talent to impact today’s dynamic music scene. Haywood has had a hand in shaping the careers of several top stars, including Blake Shelton, The Wreckers, Brett Eldredge and Frankie Ballard.

“I have worked with Narvel and Brandon for many years and believe that they are the best in the business,” Haywood said. “We have a unique opportunity to grow our roster and continue to build on the great successes we have had. I look forward to being a part of this great team.”

Australian Government’s Council for the Arts Continues Strong Investment in Nashville Community

Ruby Boots announced as recipient of the Australian Council for the Arts residency

The Australian Government’s Council for the Arts has named Ruby Boots (Bex Chilcott) as the recipient of the Nashville Songwriter Residency grant.

Chilcott spoke of her experience, saying “Having done countless trips to Nashville to write, record and perform over the past four years makes being awarded the Nashville residency even more special.  Being given the opportunity to live in a city that I love more than any other in the world and spending time solely on my craft is life changing, and one of the most rewarding things that has come my way. I am so happy to be here building my musical community and writing songs for my second album — a dream come true!”

Mark Moffatt, “Australia is a leading global A&R source for Country and Americana, so I am thrilled that the Arts Council of Australia continues to focus its resources on Nashville.  The grant not only provides the opportunity for Bex [Chilcott] to experience Nashville’s creative community for an extended period, but will also allow her to consolidate the following she has gained on her recent US national tour with The Waifs.”

Since 2011, The West Australian Music Awards has recognized Chilcott as the “Best Country Music Act” five consecutive times. Billy Ray Cyrus Remake of “Tulsa Time” Now Available on iTunes

Pre-Order the New Album, Thin Line, and Receive Immediate Downloads of “Hey Elvis” and “Tulsa Time”

As of today, Country singer-songwriter and entertainer Billy Ray Cyrus has two immediate downloads upon preordering his anticipated new studio album, Thin Line, including the previously announced “Hey Elvis” and now, “Tulsa Time”.

Written by Danny Flowers and originally recorded by Don Williams in 1978, Cyrus adds his own spin to the classic depiction of life at a slower pace and features Aerosmith’s guitarist, Joe Perry.

“Joe Perry is a magician on this track; what a gift,” said Cyrus. “The irony behind this cover is that it’s Vernon’s [Cyrus’s character in television series “Still The King”] most successful hit.”

Cyrus will release Thin Line on September 9th through Blue Cadillac Music. Cyrus describes the term Thin Line as, “How I live my life; it’s a balance between art and reality,” which serves as the theme of the album.

In total, three select tracks will be available to download prior to the album’s launch with a special pre-order price of under $10 on Amazon and iTunes. The third, “Thin Line,” will be available on August 12.

Cyrus’ television series on CMT, “Still The King” airs every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET/PT. As a writer and executive producer of the series, Cyrus also stars as “Burnin’” Vernon Brown, a one-hit wonder turned Elvis-impersonator struggling to get back on his feet. After a run-in with the law, Brown is sentenced to community service and ends up masquerading as the community’s new preacher, and re-connecting with his old flame, and a daughter he didn’t know about.

Cyrus’ co-stars include Joey Lauren Adams, comedian/actor Kevin Farley (the late Chris Farley’s brother) and Madison Iseman along with cameos by Randy Travis, Darius Rucker, Wayne Newton, Erik Estrada, John Corbett, and more. View the official trailer for Still The King here

Aussie and American Songwriters Partnered For Weeklong Retreat

Talented songwriters hailing from Australia were recently partnered with some of Nashville’s music elite as part of the APRA AMCOS program, SongHubs.

SongHubs is an intensive, commercially-focused songwriting residency that provides unique collaborative opportunities for both published and unpublished songwriters.  Australian writers, producers, and artists were paired with Nashville songwriters for creative partnership and heightening their craft. Phil Barton, a native Aussie who came to Nashville eight years ago and has written hits for country superstars like Lee Brice, Sara Evans, Dustin Lynch, and more, served as curator for the retreat.

A limited number of artists were hand selected to participate in the event, co-presented by Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), which took place at NSAI HQ from Monday, June 13 to Friday, June 17. This year’s fully funded APRA AMCOS members were No.1 Billboard songwriter, producer and The Potbelleez band member, Ilan Kidron, and award-winning songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and engineer Pip Norman. Smith, King & Country and more.

Paired with the Australian acts were UK-based songwriter and producer Adam Argyle; Jim Beavers (songwriting credits include Luke Bryan’s “Drink A Beer,” Dierks Bentley’s “5-1-5-0” and “Am I the Only One,” as well as Toby Keith’s “Red Solo Cup” and countless others); multi-instrumentalist Seth Ennis; singer, songwriter and artist, Ashley Gearing; Better Than Ezra front man Kevin Griffin (songwriting credits include No.1 hits like Howie Day’s “Collide”, Sugarland’s “Stuck Like Glue” and Missy Higgins’ “Scar”); Lee Groves (known for his work with Mark “Spike” Stent for Britney Spears, Gwen Stefani, Goldfrapp and Elbow); Jason Matthews (songwriting credits include Billy Currington’s “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right”, Luke Bryan’s “Country Man” and “Muckalee Creek Water”, and Chris Young’s “Lonely Eyes”); American Music Award recipient, two-time BMI Pop songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and artist from the band Hot Chelle Rae, Nash Overstreet; Liz Rose (known for her work with Taylor Swift including “You Belong with Me,” which won a Grammy Award in 2010); and Emily Shackelton (maintains songwriting credits for Reba McEntire, Sara Evans, Jana Kramer, Mickey Guyton, David Cook, and more).
