Sound Diplomacy Announces Speakers for the Franklin Music Tourism Convention

Two-day event to be held on Sept. 21 and 22 at The Factory in Franklin

To register, visit here

(Nashville, Tenn. – Aug. 7, 2017) Sound Diplomacy along with Pilgrimage Music & Cultural FestivalVisit Franklin, and the Americana Music Triangle are proud to present Music Tourism Convention Franklin, to be held on Sept. 21st and 22nd at The Factory in Franklin, Tennessee. The two-day event will bring together executives from across the tourism industry; public, private and creative sectors to expand on the opportunities the music and tourism industry can gain from each other.

This event will carry on from the debates and discussions held earlier this year in Liverpool, which featured 200 delegates from 59 cities and six continents, with executive-led TEDx style talks and panels discussing the value of music on heritage tourism, destination marketing and audience development.

“Music is a universal language that speaks to the world and is a key component in the decision-making process of where many travelers decide to spend their vacations” says Ellie Westman Chin, President & CEO of Visit Franklin. By combining music and tourism, you create jobs, entice visits and put more ‘heads in beds.’ Music impacts hotel bookings, travel cost, food and drink and leisure. From artists to tour operators, destination marketers to music associations, music is a cost-effective tool to project, promote and diversify tourism offers, regardless of genre, locale or language. “Our mission at Visit Franklin is to share Franklin, Tennessee with the world, and we are excited to be partnering with an international leader like Sound Diplomacy to not only do that but also bring together so many other destinations to share ideas and learn from one another,” continues Chin.

Music tourism is booming globally. In the UK, for example, it is worth £3.7bn in direct and indirect spend, with over 9.5m travelling to the UK for music related festivals and events. In Nashville, the ‘Music City’ brand brings hundreds of thousands of people to the city while cities like Vienna, Salzburg, Moscow and Berlin all trade on their music heritage, from classical composers to modern DJs.

The two-day convention will focus Music & Destination Marketing, Music & Travel, and Music Attractions. Attendees will also be working together to discuss various topics, and create TEDx style presentations and engaging, diverse panels. The final night will conclude with an official reception at Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival. All attendees will also receive discounted weekend tickets to the festival.

Country Duo, Indigo Summer, Releases New Song “A1a” to Spotify and Apple Music

(Nashville, Tenn. – Aug. 2, 2017) – Emerging country duo, Indigo Summer, is excited to announce the release of their infectious new song, “A1A” to Spotify and Apple Music. The duo, comprised of Bryan Edwards and Hope Nix, co-wrote the song along with Larry McCoy.

The idea for “A1A” was sparked when Edwards and his dad were heading down the famed A1A Boulevard in Florida. “Growing up in Florida, A1A was always an iconic beach stroll, so it’s a beachy-twist to country songs you hear about driving through the country-side making memories,” says Edwards.

An official music video for “A1A” will be released on August 4. Leading up to the release of the video, the duo will conduct a Facebook Live through the duo’s official Facebook page on Aug. 2 and 3.

As the duo’s name suggests, Indigo Summer’s music is fun and energetic. Their songs are true to their country roots yet they are not scared to push the boundaries of today’s country music. Pushing the confines was exactly what they did with this latest release, “Our goal was to point out that a Florida road-trip, Spring Break, or vacation, can seem like the time of your life with all the fun little beach towns, seaside shacks and flintiness of tan lines and convertibles,” explains Edwards.

Enjoy the summer a little longer, listen to Indigo Summer’s “A1A” here.

About Indigo Summer: Indigo Summer is starting to earn a name for themselves with their self-titled debut release. Featuring all original songs co-written by the duo, Bryan Edwards and Hope Nix, the full-length album is sure to add a fresh and exciting sound to country music. Meeting at a songwriter’s night at Nashville’s famed Hotel Indigo in December of 2010 (hence part of the duo’s name), Hope and Bryan quickly hit it off with their musical similarities. The two began writing together and from those sessions, their partnership grew to include performing and producing together.

As solo artists, they have performed across the country and opened for some of the biggest names in the industry, including Keith Urban, Jason Aldean, and Charlie Daniels. As songwriters, they have had numerous cuts and TV placements, including songs recorded by Jason Aldean and featured on the Discovery Channel.

New Music Release: Epic Anthem “Solid Ground” by Rebecca Correia

New Music Release: “Solid Ground”
Written By Rebecca Correia, Keb’ Mo’ Produced
Video Inspiration By Boston Marathon Survivor Adrianne Haslet
Single Pre-Sale Aug. 4

(NASHVILLE, Tenn./BOSTON, Mass. — Aug 2nd, 2017) A story of resilience and a dream resulted in the epic anthem “Solid Ground” by singer/songwriter Rebecca Correia. The song, produced by Grammy-winning artist Keb’ Mo,’ and the stunning music video are scheduled for release in August. This is an incredible collaboration of music, lyric and dance inspired by a Boston marathon survivor Adrianne Haslet and created with the intention of helping many others.

Kind of Blue Music CEO Robbie Brooks Moore, whose label is releasing the project, said “Solid Ground” honors the very human journey of overcoming great obstacles while offering hope and inspiration to others.

“We are so proud to be a part of this project Rebecca envisioned and to which Adrianne graciously said yes. When we can support a worthy cause through the creation of great art, everyone wins,” Moore said.

Ultimately, 50 percent of the song proceeds will support Limbs For Life Foundation. – Haslet is a board member and ambassador. Limbs for Life is a global nonprofit organization dedicated to providing fully functional prosthetic care for individuals who cannot otherwise afford it and raising awareness of the challenges facing amputees.

“Rebecca wrote this empowering ballad and then literally dreamed about Adrianne dancing on a ship. Her vision was so clear we went ahead and made it happen.” Moore said. “Seeing her vision translate into this beautiful work and the resulting friendship with Adrianne, who was someone that has inspired so many people already, is just simply beautiful. It’s lifted us all up. This song celebrates surviving challenges with grace and courage and finding solid ground.”

Splitting her time between Nashville and the Boston area, Correia is a classically trained musician who weaves a beautiful blend of Americana, Country and Blues with a dash of Pop into her over 200 works. She co-wrote the song “So Long Goodbye” with three-time Grammy-winner Keb’ Mo.’ The song is on his album, “BluesAmericana,” which was GRAMMY nominated for Best Americana Album in 2015.

A runner and Boston area native, Correia first followed Haslet on Instagram (www.instagram.com/adriannehaslet) where her story and passion for dance have been chronicled.

“I’m a runner and Adrianne’s a dancer and we both share a love of Boston and the marathon. ‘Solid Ground’ was written from my personal experience. After I wrote the song, I actually dreamed of Adrianne dancing on a historic ship owned by Tabor Academy,” Correia said. “Growing up in Rochester, Massachusetts, I appreciated the great reputation of Tabor and had previously done a seminar workshop performance for the students. They were kind enough to allow us to film on their over 100-year-old, double-masted schooner, Tabor Boy, in Sippican Harbor that was piloted by their high school students. It was an absolutely magical experience.”

Correia collaborated with videographer Rob Ranney on the “Solid Ground” video. The duo had previously produced the highly acclaimed video “Oh, Nashville” which earned an International Portuguese Music Award for Best Music Video in 2015. For more information, visit www.kindofbluemusic.com or www.facebook.com/rebeccacorreiamusic/.

On August 4, the single “Solid Ground” will be available for pre-sale and Correia will be the musical headliner for The Feast of the Blessed Sacrament, the world’s largest Portuguese Feast, in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She’ll be performing with a special appearance by Javier Colon and a sneak peek of the “Solid Ground” video.

The official release date of the single and music video is August 23 by Kind of Blue Music and available on all digital outlets including iTunes and Amazon. On August 23, at 2 p.m./3 p.m. CDT/EDT, Keb’ Mo’ will be hosting a Facebook Live on his page and introducing Correia and Haslet for a live appearance and viewer questions. On August 24, an official “Solid Ground” single release and video premiere party and performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. EDT with a special performance by Haslet at the Zeiterion Theatre, 684 Purchase Street, New Bedford, MA (02740).

Kind of Blue Music’s motto is “Quality Music Kind Mission.” They seek to give back with every project and have previously partnered with the world-renowned Playing For Change Foundation to support music education and the TurnAround Arts Program started under the leadership of Michelle Obama and continued on through the Kennedy Center for the Arts. Odysseo by Cavalia Raises its Colossal Big Top

Near Opryland in Nashville for its Tennessee Debut!
THE RAISING OF THE LARGEST TOURING TENT IN THE WORLD
MARKS THE OFFICIAL ARRIVAL OF THE SHOW AHEAD OF THE AUGUST 30 OPENING NIGHT

NASHVILLE, TN – (Tuesday, August 1, 2017) #OdysseoTN – The most impressive and immense big top on the planet – part of the largest touring production ever created – has been raised in Nashville (near Opryland by Briley Parkway at exit 12), in preparation for the much-anticipated Tennessee debut of Odysseo, an exceptional theatrical adventure by Cavalia. Imagined by Normand Latourelle – one of the co-founders of Cirque du Soleil – the $30 million extravaganza that expands the definition of performance into an epic, yet soulful theatrical experience will open under the gigantic White Big Top August 30, with matinee and evening shows scheduled through September 10. Yesterday, at the show’s site, Claudia Huskey (Senior Advisor to the Mayor of Nashville), Robert Swope (District 4 Council Member) and John Adams (Gaylord Opryland VP & Market General Manager) joined Normand Latourelle (Cavalia Founder and Artistic Director) for brief remarks about the excitement of bringing such a unique production to Music City. Huskey, Swope, Adams, and Latourelle, alongside District 15 Council Member Jeff Syracuse, cut the symbolic ribbon heralding the official arrival of the production in Nashville.

While the White Big Top rose to the sky, guests and members of the press toured the impressive site that will soon host the epic experience Odysseo by Cavalia – a breathtaking production featuring more than 100 horses, riders, acrobats, dancers, aerialists and musicians. Standing 125 feet tall and covering a surface area of 58,397 square feet – the size of a football field – Odysseo’s exceptional White Big Top is a mix of art, technology and advanced engineering. In order to break through the limitations of standard big top tents, allow for more flexibility in the performance area, and to give the horses the space they need to express themselves in all their beauty, Normand Latourelle partnered with specialized companies in Europe and Canada to create the high-tech structure. By removing the usual supporting masts from the stage and shifting the weight of the structure from the masts to three arches above the tent, this specially designed White Big Top is the best environment for the horses and acrobats to perform breathtaking numbers and for the creative team to design immense staging.

This unprecedented ‘traveling theatre’ is also composed of several exceptional features including its grandiose stage – larger than The Predators ice rink – that enables large-scale, cutting-edge creative performances. Faced by bleachers with 2,074 seats, just like an auditorium setting, the 17,500-square-foot stage requires 10,000 tons of stone, earth and sand to create so that it offers nature on stage, a vast space of freedom where more than 100 two and four-legged stars can display their intimate collaboration.
The multi-dimensional and magical world of Odysseo is conjured through images of the most beautiful landscapes from around the world, projected onto an 8,400-square-foot screen, a feast for the eyes with staggering effects created by state-of-the-art scenery. Odysseo’s technical grid, worthy of the largest permanent installations in Las Vegas, New York or London, can support 80 tons of equipment for the stage needs of the show, including a majestic life-sized merry-go-round.
During the breathtaking finale, a vertiginous virtual waterfall overhangs a lake made possible by an underground drain system that releases 40,000 gallons of recycled water onto the stage, in which horses, riders and artists join to frolic, leaving behind them the traces of their splashes—and an astonished audience.

The White Big Top is just one part of a larger ensemble; the Odysseo village will take shape over the next few weeks and consists of five tents: the White Big Top, the stable tent, the Rendez-Vous VIP tent, the warm-up & artistic tent, and the kitchen tent serving the 200 permanent employees. In total, 110 semi-trailer trucks will be required to transport the world’s largest touring production to Nashville.

Odysseo is a veritable revolution in live entertainment that marries the equestrian arts, stage performances, and high-tech theatrical effects in never-before-seen ways.

TICKETS – BUY NOW AND ENJOY “PRESALE” PRICES – Up to 15% discount is applied automatically for online and phone transactions for purchases made through August 29, 2017. The presale ticket prices range from $39.50 to $109.50 + applicable fees. For a memorable outing, the Rendez-Vous package offers the best seats in the house, a full meal buffet dining before the show, open bar, desserts during intermission and an exclusive visit to the stables after the show. This unique VIP experience takes place in a tent alongside the White Big Top. The presale Rendez-Vous package prices range from $144.50 to $224.50 + applicable fees. Special pricing and packages are also available for groups of 12 spectators and more. Tickets for Odysseo are available at www.cavalia.com/nashville or by calling 1-866-999-8111.
