It also almost goes without saying, but she grew up in one of Nashville’s most recognizable music business families. Her grandfather, Bill Walker, was the music director of the CMA Awards and Johnny Cash’s television show for years. Her late father, Jeff Walker, started The AristoMedia Group and served for many years on the CMA, CRS and NARAS Boards. Her mother Terri was a national recording artist in the 80s; and her husband Matt Watkins is the President Marketing & International Relations of The AristoMedia Group/Marco Promotions.
Entertainment, corporate, and events publicist Christy Walker-Watkins is the CEO of The AristoMedia Group and of President of Publicity at Aristo PR. Born and raised in Nashville, Watkins attended Belmont University, where she pursued an education in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing. Watkins began with the company in 2003 as a receptionist and then assistant for the PR department, while also splitting her time with school. Watkins loved the energy of the publicists that would come in the company doors and was excited to soon gain more and more of those responsibilities within the company. Watkins’ ambition and drive led her through many different positions within the realm of public relations, and she continues to offer a creative outlook and proficiency to media campaigns on AristoPR’s clients as well as for the company itself. She rose to CEO after former mentor, father and former CEO, Jeff Walker, passed away.
Although she graduated from Belmont University only eight years ago, she is already climbing up the ladder to become one of the most recognized publicists on Music Row (profiled in Music Row Magazine). Some of the projects in which she has been instrumental in publicizing are Country Radio Seminar, Charlie Daniels, Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson THE IMMORTAL World Tour, Cirque do Soleil’s Saltimbanco and Alegria, the Bellamy Brothers, Loretta Lynn’s 50th Anniversary Event, Keb’ Mo’, Travis Tritt, Clare Dunn, and many more.
Watkins currently oversees a roster of clients including Amber Hayes, Country Radio Broadcasters, Country Radio Seminar, The Johnny Cash Museum, Keb’ Mo’, Travis Tritt, and more.
Watkins serves on the Board of SOURCE and the Metropolitan Auditorium Commission. She is a member of the Country Music Association, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS), Society of Leaders in Development (SOLID), the Women’s Music Business Association (WMBA) and the Country Music Hall of Fame Troubadour Society. In 2010, Watkins was recognized with WMBA’s Wonder Woman of the Year award.
In her free time, Watkins loves to cook and enjoys photography. She is also talented in graphic design and contributes efforts to the company in that regard as well. Watkins is a lover of music and enjoys music ranging from Michael Buble to Bruno Mars to Rascal Flatts. In fact, Watkins grew up as a drummer and always connected to music through that medium as well.
Watkins has always loved Nashville, and she has found a true passion and vision in the public relations division of the AristoMedia Group. Watkins’ determination to take on more responsibility early on in her career has led to her journey up the ladder to become one of the most recognized publicists on Music Row.
