For Your Consideration: Tajmo for Best Contemporary Blues Album

TAJMO is a once-in-a-lifetime album by two legends of the Blues genre. The album has remained at the top of the charts since it’s release on Concord Records, May 5, and will be one of the best-selling Blues albums of 2017.  Their 5-month tour sold out across America and Europe and received outstanding reviews. Now, this 11 song gem, which features the engaging story-telling skills of Mahal and Mo’ melded into down-home blues, Afro-pop, and world melodies, is nominated for the BEST CONTEMPORARY BLUES ALBUM GRAMMY AWARD.

“Not only do we have two mega names. This is one mega-project that holds together astonishingly well.
. . . from the outset you know you’re listening to something truly special. This not only meets expectations. It exceeds them. An absolute must-have album of the year for blues lovers of every stripe. Grab this one when you can, satisfaction guaranteed” 95/100 – Elmore

“It’s the ultimate blues creature, stitched together by a mad scientist. . . This is how you create a masterpiece, layering it slowly and carefully . . . the record sounds like one special night when the planets were perfectly aligned and the artists and the sound man was too.” – No Depression

“It was a long time coming, but TajMo was worth the wait…A summit of two bluesmen from different generations, TajMo simultaneously stays true to their roots and branches out with a broad popular appeal.” – Living Blues

“These two are, of course, among the best-known names in bluesy popular music of any stripe, and they’ve now gotten together in this band, TajMo—variously acoustic, electrified and horn-backed—and produced an album as entertaining and adept as their pairing suggests…Across the moods, Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ do not let you down.” –Wall Street Journal

Five Stars!
“. . . a treat from top to bottom
The vocals are exemplary and the backing band is first rate, from the sparkling and punchy horns to the guest artists.” –Roots Music Report

It brings out the best of these two blues legends and celebrates their individual and collaborative musical talents. TajMo is a delight–full of surprises and guest appearances by Joe Walsh, Bonnie Raitt, Sheila E., and others.” -Rock and Blues Muse

The New Year Calls for New Music from Country Artist, Tim Elliott

Tim Elliott

(Nashville, Tenn. – December 14, 2017) – Blue-collar Country artist, Tim Elliott, is the grandson of a West Virginia coal miner who also had a heart for music.  The backbreaking, dirty work didn’t stifle Elliott’s grandfather’s pursuit of playing music and serves as the backdrop of Elliott’s story; Bluegrass jam sessions were a regular occurrence on Saturday nights. Elliott mastered the acoustic guitar at the age of eight and banjo, mandolin and keyboard followed.

“I’ve never been given anything,” Elliott says of his journey so far. “There’s definitely no trust funds and no ‘daddy’s money’. Everything that I’ve achieved thus far has been by the sweat of my brow.”

On January 5, Elliott will release a new single, titled “I Got You” through The Orchard/Sony. The single will be the first ballad from Elliott, following his two up-tempo singles “Start Pourin’ Whiskey On It” and “What’s Not To Love,” both released in 2017. “I Got You” was written by Tim Elliott and Bill Diluigi and produced by Grammy Nominated Kent Wells.

Elliott said, “This was the first song I wrote when I got to Nashville. ‘I Got You’ has always held a special place in my heart, so I am super-excited to share it with the world. In today’s world, I think, we get so wrapped up in work and our careers. I hope that this song reminds folks to let the person that’s closest to them know “I got you” no matter the situation, even if it’s nothing more than a dance around the living room.”

Through his previous releases, Elliott has garnered over one million streams through Spotify. His music incorporates a diverse range of musical tastes and influences, including Hank Williams Sr., Frank Sinatra, and Sammy Davis. Elliott is the two-time winner of Country Artist of the Year for the Carolina Music Awards, in which both North and South Carolina are included. He has toured across the country performing over 200 dates. This year alone, he’s opened shows for Chris Young, Dustin Lynch, Frankie Ballard, Rodney Atkins, Tracy Lawrence, Kane Brown, Sammy Kershaw and others.

Fans can also expect to hear more music from Tim Elliott on his EP, to be released in 2018.

Over the last few months, Elliott has traveled the country on a radio tour in support of the single release. Most recently, the Boone, North Carolina-native has visited Iowa, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, New York, and Connecticut. He plans to continue traveling and visiting new stations in 2018. “I am really looking forward to kicking off the “I Got You” radio tour. I have met so many great people across the country. I look forward to revisiting my radio friends and making new ones!” said Tim.

Elliott is one of the founding members of Matthew 25:35, Inc., a non-profit organization which raises money to assist people in the community with a specific emphasis on feeding the hungry. He is also a passionate advocate for Cohn’s disease awareness; a disease that affects over 200,000 people each year in the US.

I am proud of all of the songs on this record, as well as, the unique sound we created. There are lots of upbeat, fun, beachy songs that I think people will have people singing along with their windows rolls down, and then there are a few very vulnerable, emotion driven songs. There is definitely a song for everyone on this album,” continues Nix.
